  2. Hunters must possess a $20 Annual LBL Hunter Use Permit. Permits can be obtained from any LBL Welcome Facility or by writing LBL.
  3. Hunters must also have applicable state licenses. In Kentucky, deer hunters must have a Kentucky hunting license and a state deer hunting permit. In Tennessee, hunters must have either a Sportsman's License, Young Sportsman's License, or a Hunting and Fishing Combination License accompanied by either a Big Game Gun, Big Game Archery or Big Game Muzzleloader license.

  5. Hunters must possess a hunter safety card according to state regulations.
  6. Portable tree stands and climbing devices that do not injure trees are permitted. All portable stands must display the name and address of the owner. Stands may be placed on trees up to two weeks before hunting season and must be removed within one week following a hunting season. Nails, spikes, screw-ins, wire or other devices that injure trees are prohibited.
  7. Steel shot is required for all waterfowl hunting. Hunters must not have lead shot in their possession while waterfowl hunting.
  8. Hunting deer from horseback and the use of dogs during deer hunts is prohibited.
  9. Spotlighting or the use of any artificial lights to locate wildlife is prohibited.
  10. Hunters may not be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
  11. All quota hunters and adults accompanying youth hunters must wear hunter orange clearly visible on the upper portion of the body.
  12. Some areas of LBL are No Hunting zones, including the Environmental Education Area, waterfowl refuges and horseback trails. A complete list of No Hunting areas is available from an LBL Welcome Center or by writing LBL.
